About Q&M Watersports

Corey Merrill owner and manager of Q&M Watersports has always had an interest in boats. Throughout his childhood Corey always gravitated to anything that had to do with boats or the water. He spent countless hours fine tuning a gas-powered r/c model boat, or building a wooden raft to float down the local ditch in town. He has always understood how important it is for things to work right.

As an unhappy student at the University of Louisville, Merrill decided it was time to do something different. He enrolled into the Marine Mechanics program at Louisville Technical Institute to fulfill a career in the boating industry. As a student his teachers noticed his potential and immediately talked him into taking a job as an entry level tech at a local dealership while still in school.

After graduation he wanted to get closer to home, so he set his sights on trying to find employment around the Kentucky and Lake Barkley area. Corey went to work at Jim’s Marine in Kuttawa in the spring of 2003, and worked until that December when Jim decided to retire.

In February of 2004, Jim sold the service department to Corey and Q&M Watersports was started. Jim stayed around for about a year helping to introduce Corey to the sales and OEM side of the marine industry. During Q&M’s first year of business Corey brought in his mother Debbie Merrill to help him with the day to day operations. They managed in that first year to acquire Mercury/Mercruiser and Forest River/South Bay Pontoons. We're happy to have been achieved the Million Dollar Club and the Forest River Excellence in Sales & Service award for four years in a row!

In the years following, Q&M has picked up several engine and boat lines. This allows them to sell and service many different types of boats. They have received numerous awards from their manufactures for outstanding sales and service. These achievements are not possible without hard work, knowing their products completely, and putting smiles on thousands of customers faces over the years.

Today, Merrill has surrounded himself with co-workers who share the same interest in boats, as well as people who understand how important it is to strive to be the best at what they do. Here at Q&M Watersports we know how important it is to stay on the cutting edge of the Marine Industry, and you can not do that unless you have factory trained, and certified technicians. We are demanding of our technicians on their training and how it is applied in the field. This helps us get the job done right, faster, and the first time!!!
